Conditions Of Sale

Books may be reserved for up to ten days. All second-hand books are in good condition having regard to age unless described otherwise. Full refund will be given on any item failing to meet the catalogue description provided it is returned promptly and is securely packed. No other returns accepted - please enquire before ordering if there is doubt about the suitability of any book.

All books are sold firm and are not to be regarded as on approval unless agreed in advance by the Company.

     

ORDERING
By post, by phone (between 0930 and 1730) or by fax or e-mail books@roberthumm.co.uk Please quote reference number and book title.

PAYMENT
UK customers. Payment with order, please, except libraries and other bodies of official standing. Pay by:

Cheque made payable to Robert Humm & Co. When ordering without prior confirmation please use an open limited cheque: leave the amount unwritten (in both words and figures) but endorse the cheque 'not to exceed £XXX' - the maximum amount you wish to spend. See the specimen open cheque.

Any Mastercard or Visa credit card. Please quote your card number, expiry date and security code (the last three digits on the signature strip) and also card billing address if it is different from the delivery address.

Visa, Maestro or Switch debit cards. Procedure as above but for Maestro and Switch please also quote the issue number and/or commencement date of your card - we cannot process your order without this extra information.

Maestro and Switch not accepted on orders under £8.

Overseas customers. Unless paying by credit card please await our confirmation that the books required are still available. Accepted forms of payment: cheque, money order or bank draft in sterling on a UK bank; Giro transfer to our account 59-558-8905; any Mastercard or Visa credit card - please quote your card number and expiry date.

Cheques in currency other than sterling are not accepted, nor is a personal cheque in sterling drawn on an account transacted on a currency other than sterling.

All transaction charges to be met by the purchaser so that the full invoice amount is received by us.

DISPATCH
We aim to send out most small orders within 24 hours and larger parcels within 7 days, but if your order coincides with the issue of one of our paper catalogues please allow up to 21 days.

Post and packing charged on all orders. Overseas customers please state whether air or surface mail required. We recommend airmail for the more valuable packages.

All orders sent at buyers' risk unless the appropriate insurance is requested and paid for.

Important note: The customary method of dispatch is by mail direct to the buyer. Any request to mail books to a third party (for example, as a gift or to a shipping agent for onward transmission) will be accepted only on condition that Robert Humm & Co will not be responsible for any loss or damage in any stage of transit, nor will be involved in any investigation into such loss or damage.

Under no circumstances will goods paid for by credit card be mailed to any person other than the card holder.
