82. The Railway Magazine 1897-1996.
A bound run of volumes 1-142 in exceptionally good condition. Large octavo, then 4to and large 4to. Contents are between 300 pages and 1200 pages per volume, now totalling in excess of 100,000 pages of invaluable railway information. With countless photo illus, maps and diagrams. Superb frontispiece colour plates in the early volumes and increasing use of colour throughout in the more recent volumes. Binding: the first five volumes are in the publisher's ornately decorated medium green cloth. The succeeding 137 volumes are in dark red cloth - about 90 are in the official publisher's binding, the rest in closely matching Chew Valley bindings. Condition of both the bindings and the contents is very good to fine throughout.
This long and attractive set was assembled by the late Courtney Haydon, a lifetime career railwayman, photographer of note and assiduous collector of travel tickets. Many of the volumes were purchased from our stocks in the 1970s and 1980s. Price: £4100
